The ultimate glitch to kickstart your career.
You somehow made it to your final year of college, and now you are looking for a job—applying wherever you see “We are hiring!!!,” even if it doesn’t align with your interests or desired role. Due to peer pressure, you have desperately mailed your resume to every email address you could find on the internet, hoping that someone someday would open it and reply to your application. But 90% of the time, you don’t even receive a rejection email. Everyone has been there, done that.
The company in which you want to get placed requires experience, and the company that does not ask for experience has an HR who selected you, sends you a good morning text daily, but never mailed you the joining letter. MKITOS understands the dilemma: a good firm often asks for some sort of experience or real-world exposure because these qualities can make an applicant a little better (yes, just a little). So, here is the solution:
The very first thing you can do is to make a project. Actually you were required to submit it in the college but you just ended up copying it from somewhere or hired a freelancer to make it for you which didn’t add up in your skillset. Now your next dialogue would be “I can’t think of good project ideas”. Yes, we know not everyone is good at brainstorming project ideas and coming up with something unique, but projects are the most fundamental way to strengthen your basics and showcase your skills. When you make a project from scratch you get the real assessment of your skills, You will find that the "for" and "while" loops you learnt in class and thought you could now code are nothing compared to other aspects and parts of the code. Your hardest challenge would be resolving the errors that pop up on your terminal.(you can never be a coder without using notepad and terminal while coding!!!)
Now feeling pumped and motivated, you will open your useless AI chatbot and ask “What project to make if I’m AI dependent” or you will be opening a new tab and search “Unique project ideas for beginners?” “New and latest projects for freshers” . Please don’t do it, you are not alone searching for this, there are millions of freshers doing the same worldwide, just like them you will also end up making another useless repository and waste natural resources. Projects are good but finding it somewhere and copy pasting the code doesn’t makes you stand apart. One thing that will really help you is the brainstorming period and the hit-and-trial approach with code and features. For once just go and get a pen and paper (yes, the pen and paper and not your mobile phone or system, get the real pen) think of the app you use the most, what problem does it solve? Ohh, yaa I forgot you just scroll social media, period. What are it’s core features? What can be enhanced, if you had made it in the first place, what would you have added or removed. Draw the app interface as you would like it, or just remove the things/features you don’t like. Congrats!!! you just brainstormed an app. Notice the difference, now just answer one question, would it help others? If yes, just code it and make it public. Otherwise, grab a new paper and think of another app. If you want to practice then it’s okay but if you really want something worthy, then it should surely help others in a way or another.
Now the next glitch is Open Source development. Often overlooked and yes, not so beginner friendly at first place but it is worth it. Go out open any open source platform and start contributing. The best part about open source is that it is not necessary to help only in the coding part you can literally do whatever you want. You wanna code, code it. You wanna write, write it. You wanna design, design it. You wanna test, test it. Just do whatever you want. Contributing in open source doesn’t just helps you build skills but by doing so you also help the millions of developers and users. But you will need patience for the same because getting your pull request merged takes time and you will also get rejections but who cares? Eventually it will help you enhance your skills and help the community.

The last and the ultimate glitch to kickstart your career is “Non Profits”. First of all, let us clear that writing non profit or registering themselves under non profit doesn’t make them non profit, their selfless acts make them non profits. When you will research about it and look closely then you will find out that in reality most of them are just used to save taxes. Being cleared let’s move onto how they can help you kickstart your career. Non profits are always in search of volunteers and they require constant support, this is the reason you can just contact them and grab an internship, most probably you will not be given any stipend or pay but rejection chances would be very less. And if we think of it then practically the big firm you admire and wish to work with also doesn’t pay freshers, so why not work for good? Other reason to work with non profits is that they provide a little flexibility as compared to profit making non considerate private firms which just want a “yes sir” person who nevers denies to any task assigned.
The plan is straightforward approach a non profit grab your internship, complete it with dedication (pls don’t just join them for your certificate, invest your skills for betterment of society), get your completion letter, add to your resume, apply in your preferred firm. Here comes the best part for our friends with a goal to start their own startup or business. If you already have a business or project idea go out and approach any non profit get it implemented use their brand and market audience to get it tested or launch it, they will surely collaborate with you. Now talking about someone who doesn’t have any idea but want to get into business maybe like outsourcing or aything else, observe the working of that organization note down their week points and things they can work on and multiply their impact, try to solve it or simply share your suggestion to them. If they would be genuine and you did it in right way then 99% you will be their collaborator in the coming month.
Short story time: MKITOS also started it’s journey in November 2024 with non profit organization to get into the market and honestly no regretssss…..Huge shoutout to Cyber Secured India, an initiative by Feathers CSI Foundation, because they were so lucky to be our first client (lol, this self obsession will surely get us a legal notice one day). So this being said non profits can help both the freshers looking for career and the people looking for businesses.
This glitch can also be used as a roadmap for beginners, Make Projects-->Contribute to Open Source-->Collaborate with Non profits-->Get your dream job.
In the end always remember three things, never fear rejection, make good contacts, never stop working for good. All the best and Make it Toss!!!!!
